Real Bride Story: Tayla and Shaun’s Destination Wedding in Mexico

Congratulations Tayla and Shaun!

Our stunning real bride Tayla wore ZB3124 from our Desert Rose collection!

How did you meet your partner?

“I met my partner 11 years ago this year, as kids, we were friends of friends and got chatting before long, Shaun took me out to dinner and the rest was history! A short story, I was due to get married in Mexico in May 2020 however due to covid this was cancelled, so we rescheduled to December 2020. We then went into a second lockdown around this time so my second plans were also cancelled. We waited until the new year to see how things with covid progressed. In jan 2021, there was still a lot of uncertainty regarding covid and I couldn’t put myself through the upset of having my wedding cancelled for a third time, so I decided to put our wedding on the ‘back burner’ and try for a baby. In Feb 2021, I was lucky enough to fall pregnant, so 2021 we focused on bringing our baby boy into the world, during this year things with covid seemed to settle so we decided to give our wedding another go and set a date for 2nd May 2022.”

What advice would you give to future brides?

“Do what makes YOU happy. For me, I had so many people say to me ‘wouldn’t you just cancel your Mexico plans and do something small at home’ and the answer was no. Shaun and I had our first holiday together in Mexico back in 2012, a year after dating each other. Whilst in Mexico, we both agreed ‘we will get married here one day’ so that was our dream and we wanted to make it happen. After all, we had been together for 9 years at this point so what was another year or 2 to make sure we got our dream destination wedding?!”

How did you find your dream dress?

“I always had an idea in mind, I looked online at different styles but always knew I wanted a deep V, as I am rather flat chested this is the style of dress I feel most comfortable in. After a few weeks of researching designers, I came across Zavana! I didn’t see my dress straight away as the collection hadn’t actually been launched yet, however I could see that the styles, intricacy and detail of the Zavana dresses was right up my street and I knew I had a good chance of finding any dress with Zavana Bridal. A couple of weeks later Zavana Bridal released the collection and I had seen my dress on the website banner, the one I envisioned in my head and I needed to try it. I researched UK stockists and come across the White Gallery and without hesitation I contacted them and they said they were going to London Bridal week where they would select the dresses they wanted to stock. I asked them about ‘my dress’ and they agreed they would select it for me to try on. I waited a couple of months and the dress arrived. I tried it and said YES to the dress straight away, I’d found my dream dress.”
