Non-Traditional Wedding Ideas We Love
When it comes to wedding planning, there is a lot of pressure to do things based on how people view traditional weddings. Our message to all brides reading this… Remember It’s your day, your way.
Have Your Bridesmaids Wear White
Traditionally, the only person allowed to wear white at a wedding is the bride. This is because by tradition, wearing white is seen as a representation of purity, especially by western understanding. It’s an unspoken rule that guests should not wear white to a wedding, however we think that it is such a beautiful and aesthetic non-traditional idea to have your bridesmaids wear white with you (or even your guests too if you feel adventurous). This past year, we have seen many real bride photos of bridesmaids wearing white alongside the bride. It’s grown to be a popular trend in recent years, following the rise of the trending ‘minimalist wedding theme’, and predictably it will become even more popular in the years to come.
2. A Coloured Gown and/or Suit
The rule is… There are no rules. Who said your wedding dress had to be white and your grooms suit needs to be black? By western standards, this is how a wedding is ‘traditionally’ supposed to be, however we love seeing photos of brides and grooms who opt for untraditional options!
3. Spend the Pre-Wedding Night Together
Your wedding day should make you both feel happy. If spending the night before the wedding alone or away from your partner doesn’t feel right for you, maybe you should consider straying from tradition and sleeping with the comfort of each other. After all, your wedding is all about you two, so you get to decide!
4. Feed Your Guests with Food Trucks!
Organising traditional sit-down catering at a wedding is not every brides cup of tea. For the venturesome bride, consider hiring some food trucks to cater your night! This way, guests have a few different options to pick from and can request food whenever they please throughout the event! It’s entertaining, and an idea that your guests are sure to remember.
5. Go Digital with Invites
Couples who are aiming for more eco-friendly wedding choices may consider going digital with the wedding invitations. The benefits of digital invitations are huge and you don't have to feel bad taking advantage of them. Even most older people have smartphones these days, so don’t worry about your grandparents, they can also be informed digitally!
6. Choose an Unconventional Location
We understand that not every bride wants to have their wedding ceremony to be held in a church, and we love how beautiful unconventional wedding locations can become! If you want your wedding to feel more personalised to who you are as a couple, consider locations that you feel best incapsulate that. Wedding venues can be created almost anywhere with the right planners, so don’t be afraid to think outside the box!
