What to Bring to a Wedding Dress Fitting

“It’s finally time to start my dress journey but I’m not sure what to bring to the fittings…”

Wedding dress shopping can feel quite overwhelming. You can expect trying on and taking off multiple dresses to become quite draining. In this post we’ve listed the things you should bring wedding dress shopping and to fittings to help minimise the stress as much as you can!

What should you bring?

Company – We suggest bringing a couple of people along. Consider family, friends or bridesmaids (someone who’s opinion matters to you) be careful though as too many mixed opinions can be complicated and distract you from getting a dress that you really love.

Underwear – If possible, wear lightweight, breathable nude or white coloured underwear. Bringing a good quality strapless bra and/or shape wear is also a great idea.

Shoes – Wear comfortable shoes if you plan to hit multiple stores but also bring a pair of heels if you plan on wearing them at your wedding.

Accessories – If you have any you’ve already purchased.

Make-up Remover – Trust me, you don’t want a make-up stain on your dream dress. We suggest also avoiding fake tanning (if you plan to for your big day, leave it for then).

Notebook and pen – To write down any notes regarding the dress and/or alterations needed.

Other Things to Consider

Eat Beforehand – And bring water! You need as much energy as you can.

Keep an Open Mind – You may start your dress shopping with a particular style in mind, and walk away with something completely different. We suggest trying not decide on a style prior to your fittings, while I know it’s hard with dresses shown everywhere on social media now. You want to keep your options open!

How Does it Fit When You Move? – Walk around, raise your arms, sit down, pretend to hug someone – is it comfortable enough? Sometimes a skin tight wedding dress looks amazing but isn’t very practical.
