Simple tips for choosing your wedding florals
We spoke to renowned Perth florist @fleursociete to get her experienced insight and advice on how to pick the right florals for YOUR wedding day.
Heres what she had to say.
What are some trends you are seeing in wedding florals for 2022?
I am finding that couples are looking to create something a little different and sculpturally artistic. So straying away from tightly balled bunches and instead choosing free-flowing, organically-shaped abstract designs. In terms of colours, I am seeing a lot of couples wanting to incorporate brighter pops of colours, even if it is just as an accent.
For people who want to create a unique & memorable wedding, what florals would you recommend?
Stay true to yourselves, when it comes to your whole wedding style. You are celebrating the love you share between yourselves and that is what everyone is witnessing and loves about the two of you. If you are a lover of bright - then go for it. Or if you prefer a more understated classic look - then do it. Weddings are most memorable when they reflect the personalities of the couple, rather than trying to create something based on what they think people want to see. Don’t be afraid to show your personality, that’s what makes you stand out.
What are some affordable overlooked florals? Especially overlooked florals for weddings?
Service station flowers are not my style but when you dissect and look at the individual flowers they usually consist of it is something along the lines of gerbera’s, carnations, possibly a rose or two and foliage. Individually these flowers can be really beautiful. Depending on the style of your wedding, gerbera's can give a very fun, fresh and even retro feel. Carnations can be fluffy and gorgeous en masse paired with fluffy roses. So whilst these are the most overlooked florals, I think they definitely can have their place in the bridal space.
You did our Wedding Societe floral styling, what was your approach to nailing this look?
I absolutely loved blooming for this shoot! I am such a huge fan of anything vintage, retro, art deco or mixing elements of new and old. I wanted to have a similar approach to the florals for the Wedding Societe shoot. With baby’s breath being quite a retro feeling bloom, I used this as the base, then incorporated the modern techniques of flexed roses and tulips, then finished with something a little edgier - those gorgeous bright red Anthurium.
FLEUR SOCIETE has long been our most favourite florist to work with on our photoshoots in Western Australia. Natalia nails the brief we put to her every time, and we can see the passion through her blooms each photoshoot. Looking for a florist for your wedding, photoshoot or event? Fleur is your girl!
